The challenge

Choosing childcare is a big decision, and parents compare several settings before they visit any of them. Liverpool Nursery, based in Bootle, wanted its website to make that first cut. The site had to share its belief in giving each child a strong early start, its Montessori influences and its use of the EYFS framework.

Practical answers mattered just as much. Parents look for admissions steps, staff, events, fees and meals, and they should find them without digging through layered menus.

Our approach

We skipped deep menus and made the homepage work as a set of doors. Eight bright photo tiles, each with its own colour, lead to the main areas, including the curriculum, admissions, staff, events, news and a page for families thinking of joining. Fees and meals, the questions parents raise most, sit as footer links.

The look draws on a classroom wall: scalloped cloud edges between sections, soft cream and pink, crayon-coloured tile borders and small hand-drawn stars and paper planes. A trio of photo cards introduces the welcome message.

The build includes a rotating hero, with one slide showing off the indoor play frame, an upcoming events block showing the ball pit, plus a masonry gallery of past events. Curriculum pages cover each EYFS area. On phones, the tiles line up in a single column, so each one is a wide, easy tap.

The results

Parents could read about admissions, fees and meals from day one, explore each curriculum page and browse photos of nursery events. That gives a family a real picture of daily life and learning at the setting, which is enough to decide whether to arrange a visit in person.
