The challenge

Plastering is a trade where people want to see the result before they pick up the phone. Guy Irvine Plastering has spent many years serving households and commercial customers in the North West, mostly in and near Darwen. The quality of its walls is its best sales tool.

The new website had to put that work up front, explain clearly which jobs the business takes on, and make asking for a price simple. Many visitors would be on a mobile, often right after noticing a crack at home.

Our approach

Our plan was to let a real job open the homepage. The first thing visitors meet is an interactive comparison of a hallway, which they can drag across to see the space before and after a fresh skim.

Under that, skimming, dry lining, rendering and media walls each sit on their own card, since these are the jobs the business prices. Colour stays quiet, in pale shades close to raw plaster, lifted by a single orange highlight. Trust comes from pictures of rooms the business has completed and from a long run of top-rated Google feedback.

The build also includes a gallery of past projects, a beginner blog about plastering, and an FAQ on lead times and on home versus commercial work. On a phone the comparison is still easy to drag with one finger, while the button to ask for a price sits near the top.

The results

Homeowners and businesses in Darwen, Blackburn and across Lancashire can now judge the standard of work for themselves before they get in touch. Each service block finishes by inviting a free quote, and anyone who prefers not to fill in the form can call or email instead.
